medicos SAS joseph joestar action figure review
Finally getting around to doing a review on some Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure action figures and it was hard picking JUST one…

I decided to pick Joseph Joestar, the younger version in JJBA part II, Battle Tendency! Although he’s not my favorite, he’s def. one of the best figures in the line!

Part II of JJBA involves the origin of the stone mask along with some interesting cast of characters like Jonathan Joestar’s grandson - Joseph (of course), Caesar Zeppeli, Lisalisa and the pillar men (Wammu, Eisidisi and Kars). This was before the introduction of the ‘stands’ in part III and I was a bit skeptical of the manga but after reading all the way up to part II, I finally became a believer!

So if you have time, check out the manga or there’s even a new anime of jojo’s bizarre adventure that’s currently showing Battle Tendency!

articulation - Joseph is one of the better figures in the SAS line that have the bicep swivel and much improved thigh swivel. This gives Joseph a definite plus in play factor since you can recreate alot of his poses from the manga!
I noticed on some of the earlier ‘human’ figures, like Jotaro and crew from part III, lack the bicep swivel. Joseph’s thigh swivel design is also way better, giving him a better range of motion.
Joseph also has additional shoulder articulation allowing the arms to swing inward/outward more for better range. So he can be posed holding his huge hammer with both hands and have no issues holding it.

paint - the paint apps on Joseph are solid with some great washes to the figure. Coupled with the great sculpting, the paint shows alot of the details in his pants and muscles. The best part of his paint apps are in Joseph’s face and his scarf.
In a way, he does look like Kenshiro from Fist of the North Star.

detail and sculpt - The SAS line is probably the most impressive and the best sculpted for a 6 inch scale IMO. They where able to capture Joseph’s likeness straight out of the manga. The attention to detail is amazing. You can see all the definition in his muscles and the folds and creases in his pants.

All the sculpting in Joseph’s hair is great!

I really like the design of this figure and even though there’s a great amount of articulation; none if it is hindered by the detailing!

accessories - Joseph comes with a ton of accessories for hours and hours of playability. I must’ve spent a few hours posing him with all his different hands and accessories.
I’m not going to spoil anything as to why Joseph has certain accessories if anyone decides to read/watch the manga/show, but he does come with:
- 10 different hands, not all of them are pairs, which is pretty cool!
- giant hammer
- alternate head
- giant crossbow
- alt crossbow part
- jojo’s balls. (lol)

^ yes, this is in the manga. lol.
price - Got him for about $60 from amiami. I was lucky to get him at his SRP only cuz these jojo figures are extremely pricey on the second market. I’ve seen him on ebay from $100-$200.
Overall, Joseph is a great figure to get. He has tons of articulation that rival any ML or DCUC figure and has some really cool accessories. Plus its nice to have the younger version of him if you already have older Joseph from part III.

The only downside is he’s pretty pricey. So if you can snag him up for under $75, personally i think that’s a good deal. They haven’t announced any variant colors so only time will tell if they will be releasing another one.
Since i’m a huge fan of JJBA, i def. think these figures are worth the $60 price tag. Even though i feel the sculpting and paint apps are far superior compared to SHFs, figmas and revoltech figures; you still want to handle them with care. They aren’t as sturdy and durable as SHFs, so try not to be rough with them!

medicos SAS joseph joestar: A+
