FINALLY GOT ME A TEKKAMAN FIGURE!!! Merry christmas to me, when the mailman dropped off my package from AmiAmi.

Tekkaman, or Teknoman, is the sole warrior that is determined to stop an alien invasion that has pretty much taken over earth. Later on he gets Pegas, his giant robot ally that helps him fight the aliens and allows him to transform into tekkaman.

Never got to watch the original japanese TV show growing up but I do remember the American version. I also picked up the entire first season for $10.
articulation - Tekkaman’s shoulder armor hinders his arm movement quite a bit. Even though he has a double ball jointed shoulder he lacks the a bicep swivel. the shoulder armor is also on a ball joint so it can be moved around. he has a swivel at the upper thigh next to his crotch ball joints that give him ‘sort of’ a thigh swivel that actually works well.
When it gets down to the feet, there’s only the ankle swivel and a heel joint. He does’t have a toe joint so its hard to keep his feet planted depending on how he’s posed.

Besides those small issues, he has your standard Figma articulation:
paint - The paint apps on tekkaman are real smooth. the only real issue i have is there was some paint rub on his right closed hand. Seems it wasn’t dried yet when he was put in the package. Other than that, the figure is extremely well painted and very accurate to the colors in the anime!

detail and sculpt - First and foremost, the sculpting is amazing! tekkaman’s design is very sleek and slender with huge shoulder pads that house his blasters. “VOLTEKKA!!!”
i really like how the joints are hidden by the combination of the sculpting and painting.
The alternate head shows a bit more if his green visor and alot of the points are very sharp! i did notice with my alternate head the top piece wasn’t glued on correctly so it looks a bit uneven.
i also found some plastic flashing around his alternate head and his back right booster. =(
His twin lancer weapons can combine to make one weapon just like in the anime!
The back tail armor can also come off and attach to his arm for a shield!

accessories - tekkaman comes with:

price - got him on Amiami for $36 plus shipping! not a bad deal when you preorder your figures! but you can find him for about $50 shipped or so as of now.

I’m pretty happy with figma’s version of tekkaman; he’s accurate to the anime, he’s got tons of pose ability, an awesome paint job and some cool accessories. even though he does stand at 5.5 inches, he seems tiny still. Golgo stands the same but he just seems bulkier IMO. If tekkaman was a bit wider and about half an inch taller he would be perfect.
Its hard to imagine that this is an armored warrior since he’s so skinny.
that being said if you do want your tekkaman with a bit more bulk and height, check out the armor plus tekkaman, which i believe stands about 7 inches tall! but he is pricey!
I also found parts of my 1/16 scale tekkaman model kit from back in the day:

THIS is kinda the height i would’ve preferred. hell, i wish this model kit never broke. but figma tekkaman still has the better sculpt, paint, poseability, etc. i just wanted to show a size comparison.
if the price tag on the armor plus is too much, i would def. pick up the figma tekkaman for a third of the price!

plawres sanshiro is a japanese manga and is he story is about a young boy named Sanshiro Sugata and his miniature PlaWrestler pocket robot with super LSI circuit named Juohmaru. Initially, the show was about Sanshiro’s battles with Juohmaru against other PlaWrestlers in robot battle tournaments that were a hybrid blend of modern professional wrestling, hi-tech Robot Wars and Japanese noh theatre.vAs the series went on, its focus shifted to Sanshiro exploring the possible uses of PlaWrestling technology in medical implants, and his clash against those who wished to use it for military purposes instead.
juohmaru is an early figma that came out in early 2009. personally i didn’t know anything about the manga or anime. i just thought the character design were really cool. i thought he was a tatsunoko character, honestly. lol

articulation - juohmaru has some decent articulation. he does lack a bicep swivel and a thigh swivel, making it hard to do some dynamic posing. his head is on a ball joint but juohmaru can’t look up or down because of his stylized hair.

paint - the paint apps are really solid. they are very accurate to the anime. i do like the glossy red paint on juohmaru’s helmet elbows and ‘booster’ shoes. it really makes the figure stand out.

detail and sculpt - the sculpting and the character design were the main reasons why i got this figure. like i said earlier, he reminds me of a tatsunoko character w/ an old school look to him. the anime/manga says he’s a wrestler of some type, but he looks more like a martial artist with his slender build and boosters on his feet. very simple yet effective, sleek design.

accessories - juohmaru comes with two extra heads, his figma stand and some alternate hands. he does come with a pair of holding hands but no other accessories. (!?!?!) i found that rather strange unless it has something to do with the anime/manga.

price - landed him on a trade group for about $20. you can find him for about $30+. but be careful juohmaru and sakurahime have a ton of bootlegs of them!

overall, im happy with juohmaru. like alot of older figmas, the scale size was all over the place so i kinda expected him to be shorter. he stands about 5 inches but since he’s suppose to be some sort of pocket robot wrestler, pokemon or something. i do wish he had better articulation and maybe more accessories.

here’s samus!!!! its about damn time she got a new figure! the last time she was in plastic form was early 2000 by a company called joyride.

wasn’t TOO bad. but by today’s standards, this shit is horrible. lol. im so glad figma picked up the figure, she’s so cool. having this figure brings back so many memories!

articulation - the articulation is great, samus has articulation everywhere! her head doesn’t turn a full 360 degrees due to the sculpting. she does lack a bicep swivel but the ball joint comes out further under the huge shoulder pads so the she can still turn her arm. i did notice that she sorta has a thigh swivel too, but her leg popped off! but some of the joints are well hidden under the sculpting so its hard to tell. but the figure can still be posed in a variety of ways!

paint - the paint apps are great. probably one if the best figmas ive seen. very video game accurate. the paint job is very clean, you can tell alot of care was put into this figure!

detail and sculpt - so much detail in the paneling and lines all over this figure. i do like how some of the paneling on her shoulder pads ar thick so you can actually see it better.

accessories - samus comes with some alternate hands, beam effect parts, alternate gun tip and morph ball. standard figma stand included! its awesome how she comes with two types of beam effect parts for making some great ‘action’ shots!
it would have been nice if she came with an alternate head just like the old joyride figure!

^ hnnnggg. dat morph ball. (honestly i hated the morph ball when i was younger…lol.)
price - got her on BBTS for about $65. she was on preorder for about $50 now but you’ll have to wait til christmas! *hint hint* so go get her!!!!
paying that much for her and comparing her to other figmas, who all come with alternate faces, it really would have been nice if samus came with an unmasked head.

overall, samus is a great figure to have for any video game fan old or young. this is an excellent rendition of the character. a bit much for what im use to getting for other figures with no alternate head but ill deal.
