neca series 5 guardian predator!

wait a sec…doesn’t that look like the SDCC gort predator but with new, more articulated body?!

why, yes, yes it does. same head and redubbed “guardian” under Neca’s fifth wave of predators. at first i was kinda pissed that it was the same head but A) you can never have too many predators. B) with a name like “guardian”, they would be in fact… guards! 

articulation - This is the current NECA predator buck that sports the new articulation. Now that the predators have added double jointed knees and ball jointed hips/ankles, play value has increased tenfold! I do wish on future figures they add an ab crunch! 

paint - Paint apps are total badass! I like how guardian has a new paint app and not a simple head swap like some of the previous waves. You can see the burnt sienna ontop of a lighter skin tone making this figure really stand out. The armor itself has a bronze wash making the armor a bit more realistic looking. Neca really upped the paint apps on this figure!

detail and sculpt - Neca has outdone themselves with wave five! On the head sculpt, you can see the bottom part of guardian’s mouth! Great detailing with the bottom 2 appendages make it seem like the mask is removable, though it’s not.  The armor is new but combined with some great paint apps. the details stand out!

^ new plasma caster! It can slide up and down if it’s not in use!

Another idea for future predator figures is to make the actual netting on the torso real netting instead of sculpted lines. There are plenty of sculpted armor pieces on this figure so adding some separate mesh wouldn’t be much, plus that way it wouldn’t interfere with the added ab crunch!!!! eh, Neca!?

accessories - Guardian comes with an extended combi stick and his throwing disk. The combi stick is not retractable but has no issues staying in Guardian’s hand. the throwing disk is becoming a standard with all the new Neca predators along with the sculpted side pouch to hold it in. 

price - I purchased the entire wave for $45. i’ve seen guardian at Hastings an TRU for around $17. 

overall, Guardian predator is a great figure! He’s got great paint apps coupled with some really good sculpted armor pieces and a combi stick weapon! This is by far, my favorite predator figure in this wave!

Same here, I really want figures of Koko, Jonah, and Valmet. Heck, if they make a nice statue of Koko I might even buy one for once.

yeah man, i just watched Valmet and karen’s badass fight. someone needs to make these damn figures. i googled to see if they have any toys, merchandise, anything. nada…hopefully cuz the anime is still kinda new. *fingerscrossed*
